Discipline Lead / Lead Design Engineer
Client: Arizona Department of State Parks
Project: Contact Pt. Marina and Launch Ramps
Location: Lake Havasu, AZ
Duration: 2014–2018
Project Background
Arizona State Parks initiated planning and conceptual design efforts for improvements at the Contact Point Marina and associated launch ramp facilities at Lake Havasu to accommodate increased recreational boating demand. The project included expansion of launch ramp capacity, marina reconfiguration, landside access improvements, and coastal engineering features to support long-term operational needs.
Marina and Launch Ramp Planning and Design
While employed by AECOM, Anthony T. Mets, P.E. served as Discipline Lead and Assistant Project Manager for the Contact Point Marina and Launch Ramps project. Mr. Mets conducted a hydrographic survey and led the preparation of conceptual designs for expanded boating and marina facilities.
The scope of work included conceptual design of two 8-lane launch ramps and two 4-lane launch ramps, with associated planning for parking accommodations for approximately 1,200 vehicles with trailers. Marina planning and design efforts included development of slip layouts, boarding float configurations, anchoring systems, site grading, civil design, and landside access routing.
Coastal Engineering Analysis
Coastal engineering analyses were performed in support of the conceptual design of a rubble-mound breakwater intended to provide wave protection for marina and launch ramp operations. These analyses informed the preliminary configuration and feasibility of the proposed coastal protection measures.
This project was performed by Anthony T. Mets, P.E. while employed by another engineering firm. It is included here to illustrate relevant professional experience and does not represent work performed by Thalassa Technology and Engineering.
